In India, June isn't just about school holidays; it's the official coronation of the season's undisputed star: the mango. Everywhere you go—markets, homes, even conversations—mangoes are a delicious constant.
People absolutely love mangoes, and honestly, why wouldn’t they? There’s a variety for everyone—sweet, tangy, juicy, or firm. From childhood to adulthood, this fruit is deeply loved and celebrated across the country. It’s more than just food—it’s nostalgia, joy, and tradition served on a plate.
I still remember one summer vividly. We visited my mother’s grandparents' house, and there were buckets full of mangoes waiting for us. Cold from the well water, fragrant and ripe, those mangoes were pure happiness. The smell, the taste, the laughter—it all lingers like a beautiful daydream.
So this year, I’m starting a special mango series on the blog—going beyond the basic aamras. Think traditional, forgotten gems and quirky modern recipes. It’s going to be a fun adventure where I’ll not only explore mango dishes, but also recreate them myself, reliving old memories while making new ones.
